Chapter #8

The arrival and arguement

You're not surprised that John arrived one hour early. He looks at you appologetically. "Sorry Mat, since you got into the crossfire. Hannah deep down loves the idea of the science, but she is afraid for you. What's the reason she's pissed off"

Julie and Sarah decided to watch mom's exchange turn to John. "Did you know mom was going to be this angry?"

"Yes. Before you blame me, I'll tell you something I didn't tell your mother. I was ordered to give it to Mat" john says seriously.

"Why?" you stammer.

"I've had the science for 29 years, 28 of them known to the witches, but they still can't figure it out how it works. Although it was briefly considered that a witch in our family should be transformed into a boy, then taught it, that idea was considered a bad one. Hayley decided that the knowledge should be passed on to one boy in our family, the one both she and me thought the most capable. That's you, Mat."

"Are you okay?" Julie asks concerned. John laughs. "Yes, I'm not dying, if thats what you're worried about. Least not yet"

"You might be" Julie says, looking over. You, Sarah and John look over and see mom approach looking very angry.

"I want that out of this house, brother, or I'll do something to you that I haven't done since I was a kid. I wonder what my sis looks like all grown up" mom warns.

"Go ahead, sis" John says. "Bet the kids haven't seen a duel before, but you're forgetting something. You haven't beaten me in a one on one duel in 27 years"
