Chapter #4

The first customer of the evening comes in

by: Johnny Foxx Author IconMail Icon
Just then, the first customer that the bar has had all night comes stumbling in through the front door. He is a large and very muscular Minotaur, who was obviously very intoxicated but trying to act like he wasn't. He sat on a stool in front of the bar and spoke, his breath reeking of alcohol.

"Bottle of Jack." He said, placing some money on the counter. John hesitated. There was no way he was going to serve the guy more liquor, when he clearly had already had more than enough to kill him if he had been human.

"I'm sorry, sir, but you are clearly intoxicated way past the limit already, and I can't in good conscience let you have anything more to drink."

"Come on, pal. I've had a very long day, and right now I just want to relax and sit back with some hooch and try to forget what happened today."

"I sympathize with you, really, I do. But drinking yourself into a stupor is no way to-"

Suddenly the Minotaur shot up from from his seat and grabbed John by the scruff of his shirt, lifting him off the ground. "Listen here, bub. I've had a very bad day at work, plus a nagging shrew of a wife at home who's probably just waiting to clock me with a rolling pin as soon as I open the door. If you really wanna show me some sympathy, the least you could do is give me something to dull the pain, hmmm?" The Minotaur growled.

The kitsune sisters came running up to the Minotaur, trying to to get him to drop John. Which he did, but not before shoving them hard into the opposite wall. As John got back on his feet, he grabbed the double barreled sawn off shotgun he kept stashed under the bar for emergencies, he cocked both barrels and aimed for the Minotaur, the sound drawing the bull man's attention to him once again.

"You've gone too far, mister. I really don't want to shoot you, but do anything like that to my employees again and I will. Now, you can either sit down and stay here quietly until you sober up, or leave. What's it gonna be?"
