Julian sat down at the table and brushed his long, dark hair out of his eyes. In front of him, he placed a tray, which held a pork chop, vegetables, and a couple of cartons of milk.
"Why do you keep getting milk to drink?" his friend Seth, also in seventh grade with him, asked. "They've been serving soda with lunch for weeks now."
"Milk's a lot better for you," Julian replied. "Soda rots your brain, body, and teeth."
"Yeah," said his other friend Tom, teasingly, "One day Julian here will grow up to be a big boy!"
Julian smiled as his friends laughed. He didn't mind their teasing. He knew that a healthy diet was going to work out a lot better for him in the long run. He opened up the first carton of milk and took a big gulp, finishing the whole carton in just a few minutes.
Licking his lips, he said, "Boy, that milk sure tastes really fresh today. Are you sure you guys don't want any?"
