Supreme Pack Leader watched the probes, and saw that there was a number of unnatural objects floating around the planet. "Those can't be moons. Send a probe over to one of them."
A moment later, one of the Engineers spoke up. "It's a device for transmitting and receiving information, like our probes."
Supreme Pack Leader's ears perked up at this. "Can we receive information from this device?"
"Give me a few itches," the Engineer said, pressing some buttons. "We're receiving. Lots of information. Pack Leaders. Pack alliances. Some Pack warfare. There's a lot here."
"Have a few more probes check these things out, while the rest check the planet out," said Supreme Pack Leader.
Supreme Pack Leader sat back, and looked at the information. After a while, he found himself being able to understand the words. There was also talking images - those he soon also began to understand after a while. He was also surprised at the amount of space dedicated to what looked like fiction, or at least it looked like fiction, as there wasn't any other references to the events recorded, save by those who had written the information. One thing that really surprised him was things known as fetishes, which included a number of various sexual fantasies. Some of these fantasies involved something called vore, that is, either eating someone or something, or being eaten by someone or something, for sexual pleasure. In some of these scenarios, this inevitably proved fatal to whomever it was that got eat, but in others, the prey was safe through the whole thing, and was later let out, one way, or another.
"Well, that's interesting," his mate said. "We might be able to use our abilities to have some fun after all."
Supreme Pack Leader chuckled. "Let's hold off on that for a bit - don't want to give them the wrong impression of us." He looked at the Chief Engineer. "Technology status?"
"Not as advanced as the Abductors, and we would enjoy a one-to-one ratio, in terms of weapon superiority," said Chief Engineer. "Even ten-to-one we'd be doing good. Problem is, while we might be able to dominate a number of the smaller Packs, they seem to be allied to each other, which would not be good if they decided to fight us at the same time, especially if the Packs of the United States of America, Russia, China, and possibly India, also decided to fight as well. Basically, in the short term, we would win, but in the long term, they can repair, or replace, their damaged craft, while we might have issues. Also, once the odds get to fifteen-to-one, we might start losing craft. On the ground is a similar story - short term success, but long term failure. They can replace ammo and weapons, but we can't, and that's despite our technological advantage. As for unarmed fighting, it would take at least a hundred of them to best an Assault type, but in total, they outnumber us seven thousand to one, and it's not like everyone is an Assault type."
"So, our best bets are to either fight a very quick war, and hope they don't provoke us further, or just arrive peacefully," said Supreme Pack Leader. "Makes me glad we already plan to try the peaceful approach; scout teams of ten - four Basic Infantry, three Recon, two Assault, and one Infiltrator, who has the Designation of Ambassador, while the others act as guards. Give the orders to send the teams. I want to be on the ground, preferably before I'm a father again."
The others grinned at this, each having similar thoughts, as orders to the teams were dispatched.
"Now to wait," said Supreme Pack Leader.
