Without a moment to spare, Gavin quickly struggled against the weight pressing down on him. Though the attack was sudden, he could manage to barely lift whatever was pushing against him. Without a chance to look, all he could identify were the scales almost scratching against his front. With an effort, he pushed back, only to wince as he felt something scratch deeper over his chest.
With an effort, he managed to push the creature back. Heaving his weight into it he did his best to try to get the creature pinned to the ground, only to receive a sharp pain on his arm. It felt like he had been bitten, and he could barely react. He did his best to use his other arm, striking at the beast and feeling its grip loosen. Without losing another moment, he shook himself free before both of his hands pressed down, doing their best to pin the beast.
Even as they went downwards, he could feel his hands pressing and scratching the scales. It was tough to push down, but even as they dug into his palms, he continued to shift and hold. His weight pushed forward, Gavin nearly on his knees as he half-pushed, half-fell against the creature.
Though he held the creature firmly against the ground, he wasn’t in any condition to celebrate his success. His clothing was torn and scratched, and what was still intact was coated in a layer of dirt. Panting a little for breath, he looked down to see the creature that he was holding.
