D'oh! • Go Back...Chapter #6Well, It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time by: Unknown You peek from behind the couch leg as the alarms quiet down, hoping to see what direction Yumi is going to run off in. Maybe then you could run off in the opposite direction and have an easier time running down the clock.
"Really, Tom? Really?" you hear Yumi's voice sigh out from your side. You turn and see her giant upside-down visage looking straight at you with a disappointed expression.
"Eeek!" you squeak as you instinctively turn tail and run. There's still a chance, you think to yourself as you scurry beneath the couch. She hasn't caught you yet!
You're broken from your thoughts as you feel a fleshy wall sweep against you from behind, enveloping you and lifting you off the ground. You're pulled from beneath the couch and brought up to Yumi's face.
"You're no fun, Tom," Yumi pouts as she rises from the floor, holding you in her grip. "Honestly, I feel like you insulted my intelligence by hiding there, too."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to do that!" you say. "I was just really nervous, and I couldn't think of a better hiding spot!"
"Well," Yumi says as she tugs at one of her cat ears, "these things aren't just for show. My hearing is a little more acute with these ears, so I was able to hear you breathing. My sense of smell is sharper, too."
"It wouldn't have mattered where I ran, then," you say.
"Oh, don't say that!" Yumi says as she brushes against one of your mouse ears with her finger. "This was a fair game! You have those features right now, too! If you had actually tried, maybe you would have figured all this out and you might have gotten away!"
"Okay, I'm sorry, Yumi" you sigh. "Can you please change me back now?"
Suddenly, Yumi's expression changes from one of disappointment to one of plotting.
"You know, you feel awfully tense, Tom," she says as she relaxes her grip. "Even if this was boring for me, it must have been exciting for you."
"Nerve-wracking is more like it!" you say.
"You know we can't really be hurt here," Yumi says, "but that's easy to forget. Maybe I was playing catgirl and mouse from the wrong angle."
"Come again?" you ask as Yumi bends over and releases you from her grip, setting you on the ground. You look up and see that she's starting to dwindle down in size, shrinking rapidly. You also notice her catgirl features are starting to become more rodent-like than feline.
"What I mean," Yumi says as her shrinking stops when she's around your size, "is that maybe I'll have more fun as the mouse!"
Yumi smiles, showing off her bigger front teeth as you take a few steps forward to approach her. You know she's responsible for all of this, but you're happy to finally have someone at your scale after this past quarter-hour.
"You make a cute mouse," you say, causing Yumi's face to beam. "But if you're the mouse, who is going to be the cat?"
