Emily leaned against the wall, adjusting the laundry basket so that it rested on her hip. Sorting through the clothes, she noticed a sparkling black stone on a delicate silver chain at the bottom of the basket. Hmm, she thought. This must have fallen out of someone's pocket. She examined the stone closer, jumping when she heard her son, Tim come through the door. She quickly slipped the stone around her neck, and started to ask Tim how the day had gone.
"Fine Mom," Tim replied, cutting her off. Emily sighed. Tim never seemed to talk to her anymore, especially since the divorce. Instead, he spent all of his time talking to his friends. Every other week, he was at his father's house, and that made it even worse. In fact, right now, he was getting ready to go over there for the weekend.

Before Emily realized it, Tim had her by the waist and was giving her a passionate kiss. Emily quickly backed away, claiming that she was sick, and didn't want Tim to be sick.
Emily realized that this might be her chance to finally talk to her son. As they settled down on the couch, waiting for Tim's dad to arrive, they talked. Emily was finding out more than she had ever thought she would about her son. There were a few moments where she had no idea what Tim was talking about...things like "That's what she said," and "tweet.'
Emily thought, I really wish I knew what Tim was talking about. Suddenly she thought exactly like a teenaged girl, and thoughts of being a mature single mother were pushed to the back of her mind. She found herself moving closer to Tim, and resting her head on his chest, sniffing for the gentle traces of cologne.
Conversation flowed much easier, and Emily talked about things she had never known about before, like the latest episode of Glee or the newest Justin Bieber song. A loud honk from a car outside caused the two to jump, and Tim and Emily went outside, Tim to say goodbye to his girlfriend and Emily to say hello to Tim's dad. Emily...
