Rain. A uncommon occurrence in Arcadia. You've always liked rain, hearing the pitter-patter of the droplets and watching them trickle down your window. It's very relaxing. Granted, you prefer to enjoy rain from the comfort of your own home. Driving through it, on the other hand, is not your idea of relaxing. Yet that is the situation you find yourself as you head home from campus.
Today had not been your day. Right now, you wanted nothing more than to head home, slide into bed and sleep. But there had been a big accident on your usual route home, so you had to take a detour. An unexpected phone alert--something about a flash flood warning--and a few missed turns later, and you were kinda lost. So you took it slow, idling around winding suburban streets, trying to get your GPS to work for longer than two minutes--gah! You knew you should've thrown that thing out a long time ago but never really got around to it.
You cautiously round a corner, trying to avoid a repeat of the 7-11 incident, and spy something that doesn't seem quite right. Up ahead, a lone catboy walks down the sidewalk, striped tail dragging through puddles on the concrete. You catch up to him quickly, slowing as you approach to try and get a better look. He's a little on the short side, a little on the heavy side. The outline of his belly is just visible through his grey hoodie, and his jeans look a little too small. His hands are jammed into his pockets, and he appears to have cut holes into his hood for his ears to poke through. He looks to be about the same age as you--18 or 19, probably.
He's staring at the ground and hasn't noticed you yet. You can't just leave him to walk around in this weather. How do you get his attention?
