Waking with a groan, you have to squint, the dazzling Sun making it hard to make out anything but the vaguest of blurry outlines. Someone, or some creature approaches. The shape a gaudy yellow with what you assume must be a glorious mane of pink hair.
"Are you alright?" her voice soft and solicitious.
"...yes...." You croak.
Your benefactor fills your vision, still blurry but the shape is clearly not human. The touch of glass is familiar enough for you to recognise. A tentative sniff tells you nothing... It doesn't smell. No scent of apples, or any fruit or alcohol.
"...Water?..." you rasp.
Her head bobs, at least that's what you assume the motion is. "Of course, silly." Her tone so naive and innocent, she sounds almost confused by your doubt.
A gulp assures you it's cold and refreshing. Swirling it around your mouth, you savour its freshness.
"What kind of critter are you?" she asks.
You feel her probe you, and the sheets shift. It's a revelation that you're in bed, and covered with blankets. You snatch them up to protect your modesty.
"Ooooh.... Ohhh, Sorry." She apologises and retreats.
Blinking the shapes become a little more distinct. But as you dip your fingers into the water, your dab your eyes with the water, blinking them free of the crusty residue that seems to make your vision swim.
"It's okay, you just startled me." you say as distinctly and politely as you can manage, "Thank you for the water...Er.. But, where am I?"
