The trio steeled themselves then made a dash for the front door of the manor on the hill, the cold rain chilling them to the bone. Sam reached the door first and hammered on it with a soaked fist. Same expected to hear a solid “thunk” but the sound was loud and hollow. All three of them took a step back hearing the near unnatural noise echo all around them.
Slowly the door opened, revealing behind it a tall thin man. His skin was pale and wrinkled while he was dressed in a suit that must have been black a one point but had become gray and aged. He towered over them, his posture rigid and his face expressionless.
“Hi, our c...car broke d...down. Could we use your phone?” Asked Sam, pulling some of his long black hair out of his eyes.
The man stood there, his face showing no emotion at all. They all just stood there looking at each other for a long while before Sam opened his mouth to speak again. Before he could say anything, however, the man simply stepped back weakly gesturing for them to enter.
