The sun peered through the blinds inside a bedroom as a figure inside the bed squirmed and twisted about under the comforters and quilts.
And then right next to his head, his cellphone vibrated. A mop of brownish-going on pink hair looked up, droppy eyes blinking as a hand reached to the cellphone and flipped it open, seeing an email as arrived.
The boy, 13 year old Tatsuya Kaname, clicked the ‘open’ option and saw a message.

Hey Tatsuya my parents won’t be able to drive me to school today, so I can walk with ya today. Be up early because I am coming over for breakfast as well.

Tatsuya groaned as he closed his cellphone after inspecting the time and date(6:00 am and on Tuesday) and pulled the covers off of him and flipped his feet over the bed, feeling his feet on the cold wooden floor. He yawned again as he put on his PJs from the night before(he was wearing his underwear in bed) and walked like a zombie out of his bedroom.
For as long as he can remember, Akemi Homura has been his best friend. When some mean kids were pushing him off the playground, it would be she that would chase them off, usually with her Medusa-level glares and groin shots. With such kicking strength she could be a soccer prodigy.
But she always looked out for him, being the big sister he never had, always making sure he’s doing his studying(they study together) and protecting him from jerks and mean people. Why she cared about him was unknown to him. She was pretty he admitted, cute when he first met her, and pretty still.
Speaking of pretty girls, as he finished brushing his teeth and stepping into the shower, he always had weird dreams every other week. And it always involved a pink haired girl in some Magical Girl costume, usually white and pink. And she would smile in his direction…
Then he’d wake up, usually either in the middle of the night or in the morning. Why that girl was in his dreams confounded him. When he first got the dreams, he told his parents about it and his dad laughed on how he might be having wet dreams.
The memory made the boy roll his eyes as he stepped out of the shower and dried off and put on his clothes and walked down the hallway and down the stairs, feeling more refreshed as he walked into the kitchen quietly and saw a note on the table. He walked over and read it.

Hey Tatsuya-kun, this is Mama here!
Remember how last night you had cram school and went to bed right when you got home? Well…if incase Papa didn’t tell you, I had A LOT of work to do, so I had to stay over at a friend’s house in Shinjuku to help overlook the financial records and what not. Also, Papa just got an offer to represent his company and try and sell stock over in New York City! But it was an accept-now type of offer so he left on a 3 am flight I’m afraid…
Well besides the soon-to-be-stable economic future of our family, both me and your papa are unable to spend time with you. So so so so sorry!! DX.
But regardless, me and your papa love you very much. Papa will be home by this Friday and I’ll be back Thursday afternoon.
But, we both know you are very capable of running the house and keeping your grades up. If you ever feel lonely or overwhelmed, this is Papa’s words, bring in one of those girl-friends you know at school.
Love you! Mama

Tatsuya grinned. “Guess I’m gonna be home alone for two days.” He set the note back on the table and walked over the bread bin to get toast until he heard a knock on his door.
Knowing it’s Homura, Tatsuya ran over and opened the door…
