The hot water of the shower did make Jane's nose feel better, and it definitely helped unclog her head. However, once she was finished, she felt just as sick as before. Snuffling to herself, Jane dried off and decided there was nothing she could do but go back to bed. She stumbled back into her room and opened the bottom drawer of her dresser. It was filled to the brim with tissue boxes for just such an occasion as this. She didn't keep them out in the open for fear that her parents would find them all and think it was weird, but they were immensely helpful when she was sick.
Plucking three tissues out of the first box, Jane layered them together and blew her nose. It was loud and wet, and she could feel even more sticky snot blow out of her nose and quickly fill the tissues, but better out than in. Groaning to herself, Jane threw the tissues away and flopped down on her bed. It was always difficult for her to fall asleep when she was sick, but it would be better than trying to go out and fight crime with a cold.
