The night sky fell over Gotham City. The tall buildings are streets were illuminated in brilliant light. Such a gorgeous sight made most forget that the town was ridden with gangs—especially in the southern parts of the city. All with weapons pointed at one another in a constant power struggle with only one man and his allies that stood in between the good people of Gotham and chaos.
Distinct footsteps echoed softly as the clicking of heeled boots could be heard. A tall woman in a black leather suit that hugged every curve of her body was casually sashaying along the roof of Gotham City Museum. It wasn't her first time committing grand theft, nor was it her first time even robbing this same museum. Red goggles shaped like cat eyes shielded her eyes which were also covered in black eyeshadow. A girl had to look her best. They served to accentuate her cherry red lips that were coiled into a cocky smirk. Her cowl had two cat ears on her head. The suit in combination with her whip on her hip made it obvious who this perpetrator was.
The one and only, the ever elusive Catwoman.
"Hmmhmhmmmm!" She hummed enthusiastically as she extended the claws out of her glove's fingertips. She stopped at a glass pane that was tilted inward. Cat woman poked her index finger's claw through the glass and drew a circle, easily cutting a perfect hole. Next, she poked all her right hand's claws into the glass and pulled it out, setting it down next to her. She put her legs in first and slid her body in flexibly.
The feline thief scanned the room before stopping and taking in the sight at the center of the room. A glass casing surrounded by red ropes was her target. DO NOT TOUCH was what the small sign read. Selina smiled mischievously at that sign. She never really did follow the rules.
Catwoman slung her whip to grapple around a support beam that was in the roof. She then clipped the handle to her belt and gently swung downward. With her foot wrapped around the whip for extra support, she lowered herself to the case for a better look. Inside was a diamond almost the size of a bowling ball. What attracted her to it besides how large it was, was the fact that it was also shaped like a cat's head with ears and all. This artifact in particular was said to mysteriously vanish only to resurface in other parts of the world. Most assumed it was just due to theft.
"Come to mama!" Catwoman whispered.
The cat burgular took out a small device with a touch screen. SKELETON KEY READY is what the text read. A little souvenir from her last visit she paid to Wayne Enterprises. Bruce Wayne would never go for a girl like her anyway, too much of a goody-goody. A girl can dream though, can't she?
Catwoman tapped the device with her thumb and pointed it at the display case. DISABLING ALARM. UNLOCKING. UNLOCKED. The skeleton key worked its magic and an audible metallic pop came from the top of the display case. Catwoman carefully plucked the cylindrical top off of the case and reached in with her other hand. "Come on... got it!" She snatched the diamond out and gently placed the cap back on the display case. She grabbed ahold of her whip to make herself upright so she could study the fruit of her labor. "It's real alright..." she slid it into her satchel and climbed up her whip to the support beam to undo it and swing herself back to the window she cut a hole through to enter in the first place.
"Easy night!" The cat grinned as she strutted across the roof, hips swaying and all.
"Not so fast, Catwoman!"
"Ugh. Spoke too soon!" Catwoman rolled her eyes. She recognized that voice and knew who he was without even turning around. "Come on batsy, not tonight!"
"Justice never rests. Now return what you have stolen and I'll tell the commissioner to go easy on you." The Dark Knight stood on the corner of a more elevated part of the building. His black cape steadily breezed aside with the wind. He jumped down and approached her slowly as he spoke until he was but a few feet away.
"Alright, fine. How about we just—" Catwoman swung her whip to wrap around the caped crusader's leg and she yanked to pull his leg out from under him. She kicked her heeled boot up the side of his head to disorient him as she then made a run for it, hopping and acrobatically sprinting from rooftop to rooftop.
"Catwoman!" Batsman shouted as he ran after her. He reached to his utility belt and slung a batarang at her. She dodged it, but it wasn't being aimed at her. The batarang sliced her satchel clean off her shoulder, causing it to fall onto one of the rooftops and the precious diamond to roll out. Was it glowing? "My diamond!" Catwoman stopped dead in her tracks to turn around and rush back for it. Batman was equidistant from it as they both ran to collect the artifact. Neither of them seemed to notice how the ancient rock was glowing a neon violet the closer the two got. They both put a hand on it at the same time and a brief flash of light took over both the Dark Knight and the Cat Burglar's vision.
Now it's time for you to step into this conflict. What happened? Did they switch bodies then and there? Did nothing happen at first? Or did they just mysteriously wake up the next day but things aren't as they should be?
