The sky is falling!

Something catches your eye in the night sky just outside the window. You think that its probably nothing, just a passing airplane or shooting star that disappeared behind the trees. Nothing major. Then you hear the sound of something hitting the earth right across the street and look up just in time to see a massive cloud of dirt rise from the ground. It seems that whatever you saw has just landed on the other side of the road, but what? You wait a few seconds to see if anything else happens... nothing. What now?
