A young woman around the age of 18 had seen what the man did. She was sitting next to a tall tree, reading a book. She looked back down at her book, but couldn't keep herself from catching a few more glances at Tanner.
Tanner saw the woman at the tree staring at him. He arched a brow, wondering what she wanted.
The young woman realized that she was staring and blushed before quickly looking down at the book.
"Huh," Tanner said. It was starting to get late so Tanner decided to call it a day.
He exited the park and went over to his car. He got in and turned it on.
He drove down "Iverson Rd" which was the road that he lived on.
He pulled up to a very rundown apartment. Tanner went over to his door, unlocked it and went inside. He went to the fridge, trying to figure out what to eat for supper.
He pulled out leftover Mac and cheese. He set it down on the counter and saw three envelopes, all of which were bills.
"Ugh, bills," Tanner complained. He hadn't been able to pay the bills in three months.
After supper, Tanner lay down in his uncomfortable bed. He dreamed that one day he would be able to live a comfortable life. A life without having to worry about money, and a life without having to be yelled at by his boss at Burger King.
He got up that morning with an awful headache. He didn't feel like going to work today, but he knew he had to.
It was noon at Burger King and it was like any other day. Then, that woman from the park walked in.
