Not wanting to risk being caught here and crushed within the first couple hours of being denounced a bug, you decide to go to one of the other four rooms.
Every progressive step out of the room leads to the voices of the four giantesses to become slightly louder. There was no doubt they were in the kitchen, which meant that you had to only hope your mother was being honest about giving you at least the hour to run away. in order to get to the bathroom or your mother's room, you had to travel through the kitchen. The hall and the dining room were the only places between the living room and the kitchen, making the task of finding a different hide out all the more hard.
As you went by the entrance to the dining room, it was much easier to hear what the four were talking about, and without surprise it was you. "... it is why we may not want to kill the bugs ourselves, let nature take its course," Chelsea was lecturing again. "If the other insects decide to kill them or if they get killed on accident, well then that is just what God wanted. We should not kill ourselves intentionally, for that is against most religious doctrines, unless they show themselves guilty of the word of the Lord. Besides, the bugs may be... useful, in other ways. Religious figures have a long history of having servants or making examples out of some to prevent others from doing such heinous acts."
It is not clear whether the others are actually listening, nor if Chelsea is defending your life or finding new ways to kill you that would allow her to stay pure under God's eyes. What is clear is that you still rather not be found. The dining room before you is large, with a china cabinet at one end, a grandfather clock on the left wall, seats to fit eight, and a medium-sized trash bin to throw away scraps that can't go in the disposal. Around it you could already see crumbs of stale bread and other little bits of food. There were not a lot of great hiding places save the grandfather cloth and the backside of the trash to hide at for tonight, but if he could get through the waking hours, he could find more places to hide at nighttime. Potentially, even on the table. The biggest problem came form knowing that if found here, there is no doubt that at least Liv and Rachel would consider you part of their meal. They have each thrown you in their mouths before, sucking on you until both you and the torturer release in ecstasy, but now will be different, there will be no coming out.
"OK Chels," you hear your mother finally say exasperated from the long-winded lecture, "but none of this matters for another thirty minutes. All bugs are safe until then, but there is no reason we can't talk about how we like to watch them suffer until then right?"
Staying here did have little to offer from protection, still, it seemed better than going in plain sight of these cruel individuals, even if it meant hiding next to a smelly trash. You were just promised a half hour worth of time to explore then, and surely the other places had better hiding spots... | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
