Kyle lifts the metal hatch below the computer, and removes the portable version of the device. It looks like a large mp3 player, and even has a pair of headphones. He quickly surmises that each swappee puts one bud in their ear, and a button on the core initiates the swap. He'd have to be careful, though. It was clear that when removed from the terminal, it could only perform one exchange. Maybe two, if he were lucky.
Kyle takes the device, and throws it in his car, while he goes back to bed.

In the morning, Kyle walks right past you, who is stressing out because your machine isn't working. You haven't yet figured out that the core has been stolen, but it won't be long, and you'll know exactly who took it. Kyle doesn't give you enough time, and heads off to school.
