This choice: Shampoo was born a giantess • Go Back... It had been three days since father and son had entered the valley of Jusenkyo where they were forever altered by the cursed springs that lay within, and now that they had adjusted to the complication to their lives it was time to continue the training journey. The guide had stuck around and had agreed to lead them through the rest of the area as their interpreter and local culture expert. Too bad the Saotomes were not ones to listen to those who know better before sticking their faces in it.
"Ahead is the village of Joketsuzoku. It is a tribe of warrior women who, as well as the Musk and Phoenix people, are one of three tribes who claim this area as their home." The guide's helpful info fell on deaf ears as parent and child bickered between themselves over what had happened over breakfast.
"That last sausage link was mine, pops!" the redheaded young woman snarled as she repeatedly kicked the shins of her cursed father. The once robust, middle-aged man had transformed into an even more portly panda bear. His strangely articulate paw held a wooden sign which had his response spelled out to the accusation.
'There aren't any dibs at breakfast, boy!' the sloppy handwriting declared before the sign was turned over. 'The sausage goes to the fastest hands, you know that!'
"We are about to enter the village, so kinds sirs would do well to pay attention and not do anything rude before we arrive." the guide said futilely. "One last important thing to know, the Joketsuzoku have built there culture around strength and power, and have bred many talented fighters over generations. However, there is one you especially need to watch out for, as she is called the culmination of their efforts and it would be extremely foolish to anger her..."
The guide turned back to his clients, and sighed as it seemed they had heard every third word he had spoken in the midst of their argument. Why did so many of those that visited his post need to be so hard-headed and moronic? He could only guess that those were just the types of people who would come to such a cursed place in spite of the dangers. It probably didn't matter anyway, as the Joketsuzoku were usually pretty reasonable, as long as no one insulted them.
The trio walked into the village and found the place empty, with no signs of others save for a roar of voices coming from further in towards the center. It was a strange sight, given that more than a few fighters could be seen going about some form of training, or the less physically inclined members taking care of chores at this time of day.
"Didn't you say this was a village with a lotta fighters in it? Seems kinda deserted to me..." the pigtailed redhead spoke up as she finally pulled away from the fat panda that was her father. After hearing another roar of voices, the guide realized what was truly going on, and informed the pair.
"Now that I think on it, it is actually a rather special time for this village, as they are in the middle of an annual tournament they hold to decide their people's champion. They are all most likely at the training grounds, and if we are quick we may see a showing of fighting skills that most outsiders never get to in their lives. Follow me."
The trip to the tournament grounds was as quick and uneventful as the guide could hope for, and soon they were looking at a pair of warriors standing atop a suspended log. Both of them were women, and with bodies that proudly displayed their dedicated training with corded muscle and calloused hands.
"It looks like we already arrived too late for final match. Champion has already been declared and this fight is only to entertain village before big feast after winner has cleaned up. Still, should be a good fight."
Ranma and Genma gave it a glance before something more pressing caught their eyes. A large table with a bounty of food plated up for eating and its delicious aroma called them over to sit with their backs to the competition. The guide was too caught up in the match going on to notice the pair's sudden retreat from the audience. It was only when the final match was to begin that he turned and saw what they had done.
"Sirs! You are eating the grand prize for the village champion!"
Ranma nor his father paid the guide any attention, and treated the competition as if it was background noise. At least, until the indignant shouts and furious cries of the Joketsuzoku became too loud to ignore any further. The guide once more tried to impress on the two the severity of the situation, but was only greeted with a defiant smirk from the younger Saotome.
"Sorry, we get very hungry while traveling. So this was supposed to be the feast for the champ, huh? Seems like something the entire village would eat together, but I guess that means they know how to treat the winner. If they really have a problem with us eatin' this, I just have ta beat their champ, right? Well, tell them I challenge them for the meal!"
"I wish sir waited to say that after seeing winner of tournament. The champion heard your challenge, and now we're in a tight spot that can't be backed out of..."
Ranma finally turned around to face the so-called strongest of the village and her jaw immediately dropped as she laid eyes on a woman that was... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
