Chapter #2

Eric Barbarian of the Tribe of the Wolverine

"The kingdom needs your strength," King Emeril voice boomed as he tried to compensate for the fear he felt seeing the large armed barbarian stood in his throne room. "Your people are growing restless in the north and I seek your assistance in finding out why."

The only acknowledgement the King got was a slight nod of the head and Eric turned and left the room. Like most of the civilized world the King had virtually no understanding of the barbarian cultures. Many of the tribes were blood enemies of the wolverine tribe but after years of dealing with civilized people their stupidity and alien logic were to be accepted and you move on with your life. Eric Red Axe had lived inside the lands of Dar traveling its farthest reaches in search of treasure and a memorable death, so far he had become wealthy but death eluded him. He didn't have a strong desire to die but rage and bloodlust coursed through his veins and a settled life was forever denied to him because of the blessing of the wolverine. His loved ones were endangered by him being around for too long of a time not feeding the wolverine's hungers and his one fear was he would hurt them.

He could travel through his home on the way to investigate the other tribes and he wondered if he should take the time to visit his wife the only person who truly understood him because her own father had been blessed by the wolverine. In her arms Eric felt like a normal human being instead of the barbarian berserker with an insatiable thirst for death and destruction. The wolverine was calling now and he would answer because it was his burden.
