Eric walked the road to his ally Arin’s abode. She was much better at the diplomacy this mission required than Eric could be. Arin Lightfoot was a half-elf bard who had come to the Wolverine tribe in search of stories of the wild people of the frontier, and she found the cursed Eric Red Axe to be a wonderful tragic hero and eagerly sought out his company on many occasions.
The small log cabin had been built on the edge of civilization and the wilderness as was appropriate of Arin’s dual nature. The lovely woman who could talk and sing about many things both tragic and happy wouldn’t speak of her parents. She had known many years of prejudice from both the elves and humans but forced away from the hatred from her heart. Arin gave Eric hope that humanity was possible even though he was filled with constant rage because she had to have experienced so much hate yet returned a great deal of love.
“What you up to handsome?” Arin asked of Eric’s approach, her golden hair flowing in the wind as she chopped woods.
“I seek your help discover what force drives the tribes to gather for war,” Eric responded.
“If it worries the Great Wolverine it must be important. Of course, I will travel this dangerous road with you.”
“Thank you for assistance Tiny Song Bird,” Eric smiled at her old nickname for him. “What do you think our next move should be?”
“Well, if we take the diplomatic path we visit your tribe to start collecting allies. More up your road is the combat path where we take the fight to them by attacking the Wolf tribe to display our strength and draw out enemy into the open. Finally, we can take the mystic path and seek out the primal spirit with the Raven tribe. Let us hope you choose wisely.”
