Chapter #3

Sitha Blackscale Fearsome Lizard Man

    by: bolgerjc Author IconMail Icon
Sitha was fascinated by the world of the civilized races because it was so different from the simple life the lizardmen led. He wondered which was the better choice or if they were simply different. The rabbit and the deer were different from each other and neither was better, or worse than the other they were only different with their own places in the world. The King of the humans had called for his help and he answered because Sitha was curious why a human who commanded so many would seek the help of one of the lizard people.

The castle was the most impressive building of stone Sitha had seen outside of the ominous stone structures in the heart of the swamp which the lizardmen were forbidden to explore, because of the dark bloody history behind it. It didn’t take long for armored men to guide him to the King which wasn’t surprising because a seven foot tall lizardman stood out in a crowd. Light orbs lit the castle in a gentle glow allowing the painting and tapestries to be properly admired.

King Emeril sat on his throne and waved all of the guards from the room leaving him alone with the large lizard man. The elderly man looked nervous, but Sitha was pleased at the display of trust the King showed by being alone with him.

“I seek your aid in a very delicate matter,” the King said. “In return I will offer you the Eye of the Lizard Kings.”

The Eye of the Lizard Kings was an extremely important relic from the days of the lizard empire many millennium ago. There was very little any of the lizardmen wouldn’t do to get it back for the tribes of lizardmen everywhere, because it could act as a source of unity for the diverse tribes of lizardmen and prevent the common tribal warfare that existed now. Sitha was more curious than ever as to what great task would be required of him to earn the Eye.

“My son Stephan is gathering a large group of mercanaries to use against me,” King Emeril explained. “I need you to kill him before he throws this kingdom into a civil war with many pointless deaths.”

“For the Eye I am willing to do this,” Sitha agreed.

“Thank you for taking on this job. You can find him at the outpost called Travia’s Haven where he and the mercenaries are hidden in one of the valleys nearby. If you can make sure no one observes your action against the prince.”

There was sorrow in the King’s eyes but Sitha only cared about earning the reward promised to him. He would have a choice to make. Should he strike the Prince at the outpost, take time to observe his target or set-up an ambush.
