Lady Nelson could travel with many trunks and cases without rousing any suspicion which was very nice when you had a lot of gear and contraband. Doing a little side business wouldn’t hurt as she was working with the King. She quickly had her stuff put in her rooms, so she could watch the comings and goings on the vessel for things she could exploit, and make sure the King hadn’t put any obvious tail on her. She was almost certain he didn’t know about the truth of this identity, but it never hurt to double check on these things.
Duke Sebastian came aboard and she couldn’t help but smile at the prospect. He was a notorious flirt who enjoyed flaunting his wealth by giving extravagant gifts to his love interests. Temperance decided she would be one of those ladies to take in some more wealth, and perhaps mix a lit business with pleasure as he was very handsome and the rumors said he was very skilled in the bedroom though that may just be him putting the word out there. Jewels and other expensive gifts bought a lot of goodwill and quiet lips if you weren’t amazing in arts of love.
“I don’t believe we have met,” Duke Sebastian made a direct path to her nearly running over a member of the crew who scurried out of the powerful man’s way.
“Lady Temperance Nelson,” she curtsied very low so he would have a spectacular view of her cleavage. “I am delighted to meet you in person Duke Sebastian of the house of Wilmington.”
“Please, call me Sebastian. I do hope you will have dinner with me tonight when the vessel takes flight.”
“It would be my pleasure, and call me Temperance. What takes you on this journey, business or pleasure?”
“Alas, I have business but with you aboard I feel I should have many pleasures on this journey. What brings a lady as lovely as yourself on this journey?”
“Pleasure, I have heard the baths do wonders for the skin.”
The Duke took hold of her hand and caressed the skin, “I can not imagine you have skin softer or more lovely than it already is.”
He gently pressed his lips to her hand giving it a kiss, and she responded with a blush and fanned herself. She had to admit he was the flirt she had hope for, now, she had to wait to see if the gifts would follow. This was certainly going to be an interesting journey.
“Until tonight,” Temperance gently pulled her hand away from him.
“Looking forward to it,” Sebastian responded with a look like a wolf with plump young sheep in its sight.
She couldn’t get too caught up in the romance when there was still a lot to see before they took off the ground. It didn’t look like there was any investigation into what the passengers brought on board the vessel but she strongly suspects some money had been given to the King’s inspectors for them to look the other way. Temperance really wanted to know how much was paid out to the inspectors but she suspected the Captain would have little interest in letting her know the amount. Perhaps during the trip, there would be a break into the offices of the Captain for someone to take a look at the books, but that would have to wait until later in the trip because she had plans tonight. She was careful in the rest of her tour of the boat to stay in public places because there were only so many times you could tell people you were lost. Everything looked good for an interesting and hopefully profitable journey.
