"I'm sure Hermione could tell us about it." Harry urged. Seeing that Ron was on the verge of just seeing what he could achieve with the mystery wand. Harry had never seen a wand like it, the wood was intricately carved, and he couldn't even identify the type of wood. The grain aligned, so it was from one tree. But the stem of the wand was half black, and half white, the split appeared natural and ran the length of the wand.
"It looks rather unique. I'll bet Hermione's read about it." Harry repeated. Seeing the curiosity in Ron's fascinated stare. "It... It looks like it's for one particular purpose." he speculated.
"Can I see it?" he asked. Ron grunted in agreement, but was slow to hand it over. Harry ran his finger over the etched surface. Trying to see if there were runes scratched there, or if he could make out the details. But, even squinting his eyesight wasn't up to the task.
He slid it into his sleeve, a little reluctant to hand it back.
"Library!" he suggested.
"Yeah..." Ron agreed, his face contorting, behind Harry's back, as he struggled not to ask for the wand back.
As expected, they found Hermione in the library. Her usual seat, almost no-one sat there, knowing how frequently it was occupied.
"We... came across this." Harry slid the mystery wand from his sleeve, placing it carefully in Hermione's outstretched palms.
