You were a little too shocked by whatever turn of events had come over you to stop Kim from slipping on the cowl. And you were more than too eager to make a good impression on her and win some brownie points. That was why you had picked out the jacket in the first place, after all.
"Hey," Kim said, doing a small dance around. The sleeves hung loosely from her skinny arms. "Not bad. A little large, but I could get used to it."
In this situation, where your only thought was trying to please your crush, you could only agree with her. "It looks very nice on you. Would you, uh, like it?"
You regretted the words as soon as they came out.
"Did you go and get this for little old me," Kim asked before giving you a big hug. "You're the best, Simon! I've just been looking for something like this with the colder weather."
"Don't thank me yet," you muttered as you looked down at her head. Tiny little red hairs were starting to sprout over her brown ones. Whatever the cowl had done to you was slowly working its way through Kim now.
"You're so sweet," Kim concluded, blissfully aware of the growing scarlet in her hair. "Why don't I treat you to dinner? You're tired of cafeteria food too, aren't you?"
This was practically a date and you couldn't well say no to it. Especially if she was the one instigating it after months of no process on your end to get things moving. If only there wasn't an enchanted cowl in your way giving Kim the best hair dye job you had ever seen. There was already a distinct sanguine streak running through her scalp. Plus, this outing would let you keep an eye on her, or so you told yourself.
"...How can I say no?" you asked.
Kim clasped your hands and pulled you to the door. "Come on, I know just where we can go for a nice warm meal."
