Kovu had been through a lot of training, since he was a young cub and was now a young adult.
His mother Zira had trained him well, but to Kovu deep down he didn't want to be like this, he wanted to be happy not a trained killer.
It was the day for Kovu to infiltrate the Pride Lands, Zira's plan was in motion, she had ordered Kovu's brother and sister Nuka and Vitani to start a fire while Kiara was on her first hunt, even though Kovu knew the plan, he was planing on something different: he wanted to see Kiara again and this was his chance.
Kovu had rescued Kiara from the fire and had asked Simba if he could live in the Pride Lands, for now he was allowed in, Zira however did not know Kovu was following his own plan and not her's.
