Yes, Melissa enjoyed Star Trek, and Discworld, and Batman, and tons and tons of other geekly things. However, being a blonde cheerleader stereotype, it put her into a certain social group. While Melissa never participated in the taunting that her fellow cheerleaders would do, she never stopped it. As Captain, she wanted to keep the peace. She took herself out in order to help the greater good of her team.
