"What ... the ... fuck," Josh uttered, staring down at himself in shock. This was Kate's ideal romantic partner? He didn't even know she liked Goths. And he knew her really well.
He looked at himself in the mirror, seeing a pale-skinned lanky version of himself with black and blue-dyed spiky hair. His clothing had already changed, his T-shirt having been morphed into a nylon shirt and his pants having been morphed into a what looked like a black leather kilt (he didn't want to think of it as a skirt!). On his feet were a pair of black leather boots with 3-inch stacks. As he stood there, he saw that his transformation wasn't done yet. He continued to stare in shock as a spiked collar appeared around his neck and several piercings appeared on his body - some in his ears, one in his lower lip, one in his eyebrow, one in his nose, and (he gasped as he felt them appear) one in each of his nipples. Then the make-up began to appear - black lipstick on his lips and black nail polish on his fingernails. Over and over in his head, Josh tried to will his changes to stop, but they weren't stopping. The next thing to appear was his new tattoos. Every one of them looking either gothic or demonic in design. And then ... it was finally done.
Josh just stood there, still in shock, looking at the gothic freak looking back at him from the mirror. This couldn't be the type of guy Kate liked. There must have been some sort of mistake. He turned away from the mirror and got another shock. Apparently, he had been so focused on himself that he hadn't noticed all of the other changes. He had forgotten that all of reality changed when the dictaphone was used, like his blue walls appearing in old photos from the past. His walls were still blue, but now they were so dark that they almost appeared black. And the rest of his bedroom's furnishings and possessions had changed too, now reflecting the obvious truth that a Goth boy had been living in this room for the last several years. He even had photos showing him looking like a Goth, but standing with people he didn't recognize ... although one of them could have been that Goth chick from school. What was her name? Lucy? But he didn't see Kate anywhere. Were they even friends in this new weird reality?
