You consider sneaking away, but quickly decide against it. You didn't know what would happen should you be caught by the scary dragon lady, and you certainly didn't want to find out.
With those two things in mind, waiting this out seemed like the safest option...but then the captain would likely die...

The dragon lady wants the idol destroyed, and the captain doesn't want to destroy it...but perhaps if someone else did the deed, no one would get hurt.

Ah! The captain just set it down behind him, and...settled into a fighting stance? Is he trying to take on the dragon girl with his bare hands? That's...honestly pretty ballsy, but that also means that someone's absolutely guaranteed to get hurt...at least, unless you step in.
But on the other hand, this isn't your problem, and that was a pretty stupid move the captain just pulled. Waiting this out seems like a perfectly viable option.
