Yuya Sakaki was not having a good day.
Sure, it had started nicely enough. He had put on a nice outfit and was ready to clown around to earn some laughs, having his audience entertained even if it was at him, but he also knew he had probably the toughest duel of his life to deal with. And unfortunately, Strong Ishijima wasn't named such as a joke; it was easy to pretend he was having no problem at all, but Odd-Eyes being unable to defeat his Battleguard King and then being sent back to his hand was almost terrifying. And worst of all, there was nothing he could do.
And yet, the little voice of hope reached him. His father's words, the same ones that stimulated him when things were down. To never give up... to never surrender to despair. To be like the pendulum, which would swing to the other side, after swinging to the deepest of despair. You can never do anything "if you are afraid. Be brave, and keep on going..." He turned to face Strong Ishijima. "...if you want to win!"
"Swing, pendulum...! More and more!" he found himself saying, before placing his hands on his deck.
Just as he had drawn his next card, Yuya's eyes were blinded by the strong light that emerged from the swinging pendulum, feeling warmth enveloping his cards. A faint voice seemed to speak to his ears, but he couldn't hear it, not truly.
When his sight returned, his cards had changed. Magician of Astromancy and Magician of Chronomancy had a new color scheme to their cards, as well as new text in the middle, and so had his Odd-Eyes. Yuya might've questioned it otherwise, but... right now, he was too desperate to care. He needed to win, at all costs.
"By taking the scale one Magician of Astromancy and the scale eight Magician of Chronomancy," he began, his pendulum shining again, "I'll set the Pendulum Scale!" Stargazer was placed on the rightmost space on his monster zone, while Timegazer was at the leftmost. The word PENDULUM formed itself on the monster zone, between both cards, and two bright pillars emerged to his sides.
It is time.
Indeed...
Both monsters emerged by his side, as a giant pendulum started to appear in the sky, the two floating as high as they could to see everyone. The numbers 1 and 8 began to glow underneath their bodies, while they stared at the audience, completely silent.
"Now, I can summon any monsters with levels between two and seven to the field!" Yuya proceeded, ignoring the light that was forming into the pendulum, the audience finding it hard not to look at it directly. It called to them, felt so interesting...
"What's going on?!" Strong demanded, managing to focus his gaze on the redhead, ignoring the call of the bigger pendulum.
"Swing, Pendulum of the Soul!" Yuya cried out, as the giant pendulum did so, many eyes moving along with it. "Draw an arc of light across the ether!"
Yuya's friends were staggered by it, barely able to stand there with their jaws at the height they were. Among them, however, little Ayu was the one most affected, her gaze growing completely blank as the light invaded her mind.
"Pendulum Summon!" Yuya finished, before raising one arm. "Come forth, ye monsters who serve me!"
The pendulum swung rapidly now, forming a full circle of light. From within this circle, more monsters emerged: Entermate Whip Viper, Entermate Swordfish, and...
"Odd-Eyes... Pendulum Dragon!"
Yuya smiled confidently as he faced Strong Ishijima, his hope fully revived.
At the very back, little Ayu did not notice she was drooling a little...
