This choice: Yes, tell Roger  •  Go Back...
Chapter #4

Roger? Wilco

    by: Unknown
As the two of you walk toward the university’s tennis stadium, you look at your breasts, then back to Roger, “Okay, dude, I gotta ask you something."

"What?" he replies.

"Do you notice anything different about me?" you motion at your body, making a point of drawing his attention to your buxom chest.

"Um," he says, staring you up and down, "You're not wearing a bra?" He was completely casual about the comment, as if you had always worn bras and had such huge boobs.

That's when you decided, "Okay, listen, I gotta tell you the truth about this watch. I think someone else should know about it.”

”Not a gift from your dad?” Roger retorts. “What, you steal it?”

“What? No!” you protest, but, of course, Roger is just grinning. You roll your eyes and say, “It is from my dad. A special project he was working on, I guess, and he sent it to me to keep it safe.”

“Yeah, wouldn’t want a watch to fall into the wrong hands,” jokes Roger.

“Come on, I’m serious,” you say, and you manage to briefly explain the Reality Shift Watch without your friend interrupting you further, finishing up just as you arrive at the entrance gate. Admission is free for students, so the two of you merely swipe your IDs through a card reader.

Roger looks thoughtful as the two of you take seats among the sparse crowd in the stands. You spot Nguyen on the court among the team, and she gives you a little wave, but she’s otherwise all business in her blue-and-white tennis dress.

Finally, Roger speaks. “Okay, so you gave yourself breasts. That's a little weird."

"It was just because Pam came up to my door, I swear," you say, absent-mindedly tugging up your blouse. Having breasts had become second nature to you suddenly.

"Alright, but are you gonna use that for anything big?”

“Like what?” you respond, just as the P.A. system crackles to life with, “Please rise for our national anthem.”

The two of you stand up as a scratchy recording of “The Star-Spangled Banner” plays. You place your right hand on your breast, and get a slight tingle again. That was something you'd never get used to, and always enjoy. Then Roger whispers in your ear, “What if you make the national anthem ‘Bad to the Bone’ or something?”

You roll your eyes and whisper back, “That’s ridiculous.”

“Only because you’re used to this as our reality!” insists Roger. As the anthem finishes and you both sit back down, he says, “Oh, hey, what do you think your dad did to test it out?”

“Huh? I don’t...”

“Maybe he changed your mom so she was more his type.”

That strikes a bit of a chord with you. Your mother is attractive, and looks young for her age, but surely he wouldn’t have --

Roger suggests, “And maybe he changed himself to be better-looking, too.”

It doesn’t occur to you until that very moment: your father is 6’3”, well-muscled, and handsome, looking nothing like the stereotypical research scientist, more like the stereotypical male model.

“And, hey, maybe he had a daughter but wanted a son. Maybe you were originally a girl!”

You look down at your heaving chest. The irony hits you hard. Could something like that really be possible -- that your life had been completely altered without you knowing about it? Actually, if he’d changed his life, or your mother’s, then that would have had ripple effects to change your life and your sister’s, if she was even really supposed to be your sister --

“So what are you gonna do next?” asks Roger.

“Huh?” You have to massage your temples a bit.

“You should help out your girlfriend,” Roger suggests, nodding toward the court. You were too busy thinking about the watch and the potential previous reality shifts to notice that Nguyen’s match had started. You watch just as she’s unable to reach a shot in the back corner of the court, and she loses a point.

“I don’t really want to use this thing to cheat,” you say.

“You mean just tell the watch ‘Nguyen is going to win her match’?” Roger asks. “I wouldn’t want that, either. That’d be boring. No, just help her out -- like, I mean, I’m sure she’d be better if she were even just a few inches taller. Although if you wanted to give her the body of Venus or Serena Williams, I’m sure that’d be even better.”

“Her body’s fine,” you say.

“But it doesn’t have to be just ‘fine,’” points out Roger. “You could do anything you want. Tweak her so she’s a little sexier. Longer hair. Bigger tits --“

“I don’t think bigger tits would help with the tennis!”

“What if you gave all women bigger tits? Then it would be a wash!” Roger’s looking a bit excited. “But, okay, tennis? So just do a little something to make this more interesting -- uh, what if tennis outfits looked more like the kinds of stuff porn stars wore?”

“What?!” Despite yourself, you have a vision of Nguyen and her opponent playing in skimpy lingerie and moving around perfectly well despite wearing platform shoes with spike heels.

“Just a suggestion, man, but come on,” says Roger. “You’ve got this incredibly powerful thing and all you’ve done so far is give yourself a pair of breasts that in all honesty I believe you've always had."

"Oh come on, do you see any other guys with boobs as big as mine?"

Roger shakes his head, "No, but I also know what you have is a severe form of gynecomastia mixed with an estrogen imbalance. If you want me to believe you about that watch, prove it. I want to see something happen!”

“Okay, okay,” you sigh. You make sure the switch is set to "local" -- you don't want to try changing the whole world just yet -- then press the button on the watch and say...
