Samus glanced at the monitor as a new status update appeared on the monitor.
“A list of upgrades compatible with the Pear Upgrade have been found,” the monitor said. “Applying a secondary upgrade may allow for chip removal; however, this process has an estimated failure rate of fifty percent.”
“Alternatively, a new chip could be forcibly installed over the Pear Upgrade to reshape excess biomass into a different form. Warning! Reshaping excess biomass will be permanent.”
“Hmm,” said Samus. While she definitely wanted to get rid of the Pear Upgrade somehow, both options could potentially leave her worse off than before.
“Computer, display a list of upgrades compatible with the Pear Upgrade,” Samus said.
The terminal responded to her verbal command by initiating a search program, which ran for a few seconds before displaying a list.
“Compatible upgrades include: the Balloon Upgrade, the Hourglass Upgrade, the Elastic Upgrade and the Gel Upgrade,” the monitor said.
“Only four upgrades?” Samus asked quietly. Well, that was disappointing. However, she wanted more information on her other option before she made a decision.
“Several upgrades have been developed that modify the user’s body with additional body parts, or alterations to existing body parts,” said the monitor. “By forcibly overriding the Pear Upgrade with one of these upgrades, the excess biomass can be used to permanently install such an upgrade. Using this method will require that the Zero Suit and Power Suit be altered to suit these new forms.”
Samus nodded slowly as she thought her options over.
