During 5 minutes you still sit on John's desk, wavering the scroll without any progress with it. The thought of suffering possible side-effects made you uncertain, the grotesque images of 'Indiana Jones' and 'The Mummy' clouding your intent of going up here....
Counting down the clock, you managed to gather yourself... You took a deep breath and start to read.
*knock* *knock* "John, are you in there?" It's Julia, you just read the first word of the scroll. Wonder what she's doing here.
"Fyuh, coast is cle...." Hearing no response from John she decided to enter, she was stunned seeing you as you're right in front of her sitting on John's study chair.
"Uh why are you here Julia?" You gave her a skeptical look, you guessed that she was interested in the scroll as well
"Me? why are YOU here?" Julia sounded defensive and asked you back.

The two of you were on a deadlock and staring skeptically at each other, Julia still stood near the door she closed while you still sitting at the chair.
Your thought of 'keeping this to yourself' was futile as so was hers, you clearly heard her turning things at you.
You decided to ice-break this shitty stand-off. "Alright you got me, I was here for the scroll."
"Me too... so have you figure out something yet?" Julia walked towards you, you then unroll the scroll... maybe Julia could figure something out
"Not quite, but I think I could spell out the word on this thing." You shared what you thought of the strange word, you're sure to be able to read it as it looked latin.
"Oh yeah, it is pronounceable... let me try..."
Julia seem enthusiast with its magic, you could give her your first 'que' to see what it really does. But again having others get all the fun while you watch or being a guinea pig of Julia's magic power was a waste of chance.
