Gardenia, gym leader of Eterna City, stood at the edge of the vast Eterna Forest. While usually visits to the Eterna Forest were peaceful and calm for the nature-loving Grass-type expert, this time it was all business for her. Due to Team Galactic's shenanigans with their strange tower, the pokemon all throughout the forest had grown crazy and restless, attacking travellers with more force and coordination than usually exhibited. Thanks to a brave young challenger, Team Galactic's operation had been stopped, but the forest pokemon still needed to be pacified. As such, it was up to her.
The orange-and-black-haired young woman checked her gear once more, making sure she was prepared. She was wearing her trusty exploration outfit, a bright green poncho draped over a black long-sleeved shirt whose coverage ended just below her chest, a pair of bright orange cargo shorts held up by a belt, and a pair of forest green hiking boots. Though the outfit left her belly and shins exposed, she was more comfortable in its mobility, and loved to feel the air as she walked through the greenery. Plus, she was more than familiar enough with the forest to avoid any poisonous hazards. Not that it was going to make this task any easier.
From what she could gather from some of the travelers who could escape the forest, the pokemon attacks seemed to be coming sporadically in raids coming from three different parts of the forest, each well-known for a specific type of pokemon. Those would be the places to investigate first. It was even possible that by stopping one of the swarms, the other two would calm down naturally. The dangerous areas were...
The Old Chateau. An abandoned manor on the north side of the forest, surrounded by overgrown plants. Rumor had it that the place was haunted, overrun by all manners of Ghost-type pokemon. Rumors that were recently confirmed, judging from the pale face of the traveler who had reported it to her. Gardenia did not like this option, as she was terrified of ghosts, though she kept such fears secret from the fellow townsfolk.
The Moss-covered Rock. This area in the southern reaches of the forest was well-known as a place where nature's power was strong. Obviously, this would contain lots of Grass and Bug-type pokemon, which Gardenia was very familiar with, giving her the advantage of knowledge, at least.
And finally, the Forest Spring. Along one of the paths in the forest lay a large body of water. Oddly enough, masses of Water-type pokemon from the southwest, near Floraroma town, had gathered in the area. The pokemon, unfamiliar to the habitat, were doubtless causing trouble and agitating the other groups as well. Gardenia knew that her Grass-type pokemon should be effective against them, but a large group of any type of angry pokemon was always a threat, so she would still have to be careful.
Thinking it over, Gardenia made her choice, gathered her supplies, and set off into the forest, heading towards-
