Chapter #5

Ask and You Shall Receive

    by: Archangel Author IconMail Icon
“Yeah, I’m okay,” was all you could manage to mumble out. You were still hesitant about enlisting the behemoth hedgehog’s help, but the way you saw it, there was no other alternative. You didn’t even know if you were still in your house anymore, nevertheless why Silver was a giant and holding you to his face. What possible hope could you have of solving this mess on your own, when just a short time ago Chaos Emeralds and anthropomorphic hedgehogs were about as real as a professional wrestling match? Things were obviously turned on their head, and if the situation was going to be crazy, you may as well embrace it.

But truth be told, there was another, more mischievous reason for your decision to draw attention to yourself. Ever since he was introduced into the series, you’ve had somewhat of a crush on Silver. You’re not sure if it was his naiveté and almost child-like sincerity towards almost everything he does, or his smoking body that was the hottest aspect about him, but either way you’ve had a thing for the sexy hedgie from day one. And now you were at his total mercy; he could end you in an instant with a quick stomp of his massive boot or a squeeze the life out of you with his gigantic hand. For some reason, having gullible little Silver hold so much power over you was getting you pretty hot.

Granted, you were still terrified for your life. Though if you really had to go, having your crush literally crush you to death sounded pretty appealing in your book. There were definitely worse ways to meet your maker.

The titanic hedgehog stood motionless for a moment. You wonder what the problem was, and you panic at the thought that maybe he was thinking of what to do with you now that you were awake. Perhaps he wasn’t as innocent as you thought. You break out into a sweat, when you see him tilt his head up slightly and line your body up with his mouth. You peer into his gaping maw, moist with saliva and dank with his musty breath. His mouth was opening quickly, and your gut reaction is to squeeze your eyes shut in preparation to the inevitable, but you kept them open anyway. If he was going to eat you, then you wanted to enjoy every second of being sloshed around in Silver’s mouth before he either chewed you up or swallowed you whole.

Then, you feel a sudden gust of cold air at your back. Before you could react, Silver’s voice explodes out of the chasm.

“HEY! I SAID ARE YOU OKAY?”

Damn, that was loud. He was practically screaming at you, and you think to yourself that you wouldn’t be okay for long if he kept on shouting like that. But it appears that he didn’t hear your reply after all. That made sense when you thought about it; his ears were about thirty feet above you, and even though they were big, your voice would be meager by comparison.

You want to shout that you are indeed okay, but before you can, you feel yourself gently float away from his face. He takes a few steps forward, which sound like crashing thunder with each foot fall, and then gently starts to lower you down. You were amazed at the kind of control he had with his telekinetic powers. You knew in the games that he had the strength to lift and hurl cars and robots with ease, so it was shocking to see that he could wield that power so delicately as well. You land on a hard surface, and the aura suddenly disappears, freeing you of your paralysis.

Before you get up, you feel the rhythmic earthquakes as Silver walks away from you. You don’t want him to get too far away from you, so you quickly get to your feet and start waving in his direction. But you stop in your tracks. This is the first time you got a real good look at your surroundings, and you don’t like what you see.

You were inside a house, but it wasn’t yours and it wasn’t normal sized. Just across from where you were standing was a sofa big enough to fill an entire stadium. You thought you could easily run a long oval across its three cushions like they were the track of your school’s football field. Since you were across from the couch, you figured out that you were standing on a long, rounded coffee table made of a dark brown wood. As such, you deduced that you were probably in the middle of the house’s living room. You scanned around, and from where you were standing you could see a small kitchen area that looked hundreds of yards away. You couldn’t see much else in there, as a wall cut off your view that probably led to a room or hallway of some kind on the other side. Opposite the couch was a TV that would dwarf the biggest Jumbotron you had ever seen. You scan right, and a book that was as thick as you were tall blocked most of your view, but you could see a door on the other side that was probably the main entrance to the house.

You’re relieved that Silver didn’t walk that way; otherwise you may have been stuck in the house alone for who knows how long. You don’t see the giant silver teen anywhere. After a moment of thought, you decide you have to do something to get him to come back. You may have been afraid before, but thinking on it you realize getting Silver involved was the right thing to do. Knowing him, he’d definitely help you out, if only he knew you were here.

Then you get an idea. You go over to the book and run around to the other side. Thankfully, it was a hardcover and the pages were indented from the hard outer casing, making a little lip you could push on to get more leverage. You push with all your might, and pretty soon you are able to move the book a few feet (or inches, in your case) towards the lip of the table. With one final heave, you push the book off the table and make it crash to the floor with a loud thud.

As planned, Silver came rushing in to see what the activity was all about. He floated in silently from the other side of the wall by the kitchen, arms raised in preparation for an attack. When one didn’t come, he lowered himself to the floor and looked around with a confused look on his face. You jump up and down wildly, waving your arms and shouting his name. How he didn’t see you right away was amazing, but this was Silver after all.

After taking a few steps into the living room, his boot lands on the book you dropped. When he looks down to see what he stepped on, he sees you flailing around on the table. By the look on his face, he is totally shocked. You finally stop waving your arms, relieved that you can take a rest. Silver edges up to the table and kneels down on the balls of his feet to get a closer look at you. His titanic face became level with your tiny body, but his crown of hair stretched up into the sky like tall redwood trees. His sheer size still intimidated you, but there was no going back now.

He knew you were here, and he knew you were alive. The question is now, what will he do with you?
