After waiting a few moments, you realized that your brother would probably ignore the ringing out of spite.
Normally you'd just ignore it too, but there was a possibility that it might be your parents calling about something important. You groaned before hurrying out of your bedroom to answer it.
As you began to descend the stairs, you failed to notice your little brother peeking his head out from his bedroom further down the hall.
Before you were even out of view, Kyle was already hatching an idea.
The mischievous young boy quickly darted down the hall to your now vacant bedroom. A wide grin spread across his young face as he stared at the untended 'robot' on the desk. He quickly ran up to it and started pressing all the buttons and turning all the dials he could get his hands on.
“Hehe... Let see how long it takes him to fix this!” He giggled to himself.
Before he could mess things up too much, he was cut short by the sound of your footsteps heading back up the stairs.
“Uh oh....” the boy muttered as he totally froze up.
Panicking, Kyle jumped onto your bed and attempted to hide himself behind the assortment of pillows. He held his breath and didn't move a muscle, hoping that neither of his feet or head were peaking into view.
You returned to your room with a scowl. The call ended up being an automated reminder for Kyle's upcoming dental check up. As you stepped into your bedroom, you didn't seem to notice that anything was off.
All your focus had already returned to your device. This was it, it was time to test! No more distractions! You proudly walked up to the desk. Your hands were almost shaking with excitement as you reached out to press the green start-up button.
Meanwhile, Kyle was secretly looking on through a gap in the pillows. He was trying his best to hold in his laughter; He eagerly awaited to see your reaction when you realized all the knobs and switches were all wrong.
You didn't end up checking the calibrations though, confident that they were as you had left them.
It was as if time slowed down as your finger closed in to press the green start-up button; You bit your lower lip as Kyle quietly held his breath with anticipation. The younger sibling wasn't sure what would be the result of his tampering, but he hoped that it would at least be funny.
