The two boys walked through the brightly lit lab side-by-side. Eric was totally beside himself. His reaction was much the same as Tommy's had been. The older teen's eyes were brimming with wonderment and awe.
Meanwhile Tommy was keeping to himself. He was much more quiet then he had been a few moments ago. A barely noticeable gleam of guilt was visible in his eyes as he watched his friend's growing excitement.
"H-hey uh, Eric. Come over here. I want to show you the coolest device in the whole room..."
"REALLY? Where?!" The Eric was practically like a kid in a candy store.
"Over here" Tommy pointed at the round metal platform in the corner of the room.
"huh... this thing?" Eric walked up to the circle curiously. "What does it do?" His eyes darted all over the machine.
"...it uh..makes you see things differently.."
"See things differently? What does THAT mean?"
"I'll uh.. show you", he began to nudge his friend into the platform.
"Whoa dude, what's the rush??" Eric was initially caught off balance, but easily able to resist his friends pushing. Eric was a bit bigger than Tommy after all. The younger boy had never been able to overpower him before.
"Hold on, are you sure it's safe?" Eric asked casually with a hint of worry in his voice.
"Yeah, it's fine, I've used it plenty of times already..." Tommy was finally able to inch his friend into the platform as Eric finally let down his guard.
The 15 year old awkwardly stepped into the circle, looking down at his feet as he shuffled himself in place.
Tommy quickly walked over to the control panel and started pressing the same buttons he had the day before.
"So what exactly am I going to see?'" Eric asked nervously.
"A giant~.." Tommy answered playfully.
"Wait..a what??"
All Tommy had to do now was press one last button and the machine would start up.
("Is this really a good idea....?") The young teen thought to himself.
