Hayden Vanderzee had always been a short, skinny guy. He had been averaged in every way in school and at home. The one thing that set him apart was his straight, long, blond hair. His father had passed away years ago, leaving the boy to live alone with his mother, who was a busy manager of a large clothing store. She was never home, so Hayden was always home alone, studying and doing homework.
Up till now, Hayden’s life had been normal and boring. He would get up in the morning to shower and get dressed. Then, he would have a sandwich or a bowl of cereal before walking to middle school, which was located next to the larger high school. He would attend all his classes and then come home so he could take a nap and then study. Once he was done, he would chat with friends on his laptop, watch videos on YouTube, play a game or two, before going back to sleep.
He was too slow for football, too clumsy for soccer, too short for basketball and too uncoordinated for baseball. Even though he did try out for various sports teams, he always got rejected.
Hayden only had one friend, who was Peter Kingston, who was the nerdy boy who lived next door. Peter was taller than Hayden, but very skinny with no strength at all. Peter was a total computer and a science nerd, though. The two got along great, since they were both considered to be nerds, loners and outcasts in school.
So far, Hayden’s life had been very ordinary, until this one early Saturday morning, when Hayden woke up and he started to develop early signs of some fascinating superpowers.
