"Filliput and Colteskew?!?" Twilight gasped as she read this, upon hearing this there were similar reactions from her friends although Rainbow Dash and Rarity seemed puzzled.
"Seriously?" Rainbow checked. "Filliput? If it's so remote then how can it be populated by ponies?" Now Applejack turned to her with an incredulous look.
"Ain'cha ever read them old pony tales as a filly yerself?" She asked. "Filliput's this mythical land where all's tiny." As this slipped through to Rarity and Rainbow Dash Twilight spoke up.
"Yes." She affirmed. "The stories talk about a group of islands where everything's smaller than usual split between two feuding pony lands; Filliput and Colteskew."
"The way I heard it," Pinkie Pie added, "They're quite belligerent for ponies. They'd fight about all sorts of silly things, like 'what shape's the world' or 'how many cakes are they allowed to eat', I mean come on! Everypony knows you should eat as many as you like."
"So if they're rather quick to the draw," Dash asked, "Will it be dangerous?"
"I don't rightly know." Twilight replied. "The stories I've read say they're technology's generally fifty years ahead of Equestria's, but the accounts of supposed adventurers visiting these lands state no real military advances beyond ours, so I can't be sure just how fierce they might be."
"Come t'think of it," Applejack added, "Could these lands really exist? Is the Princess pullin' our legs or summin'?"
"I'm pretty sure Princess Celestia wouldn't go this far for a joke," Twilight said hesitantly, "But I can't be sure how much of the original tales would fit the real thing."
"So exactly how small will these ponies be?" Rarity asked with a multitude of concerns racing through her head.
"The way Ah heard it," Applejack replied, "They's mouse-sized, barely bigger than mah hoof."
"Um, I always thought they were small enough that their homes were hoof-sized." Fluttershy pointed out.
"In the books I read," Twilight interjected, "The average scale would be such that we'd be to them the size the typical adult dragon is to us." There were some gasps at this.
"Are you for real?!?" Pinkie Pie remarked. "I've always been told they're so tiny I could pick up an entire town in my hoof."
"Well, surely they're not all those different sizes." Rainbow pointed out. There was a brief silence as Twilight considered this.
"If I was to take every scale offered," She deduced, "Then I'd guess they'd be about the size of bees." She continued reading before adding. "The Princess is asking us to try and avoid speaking loudly and to always watch our steps, which may indicate that they're the size of bees at the biggest estimated scale."
