"Gates family, welcome to your new home!" your mom exclaimed, happy as ever. You, of course, were miserable, having to go on a six hour drive to a new town, leaving behind your friends and the great life you had. You were at least happy to get out of the car, as your family had been driving you crazy!
Your mom, Linda, was a chubby, 45 year old woman who had singlehandedly raised her three children. She was a hard worker, and always kept her chin up, but was very stressed out. She was a plump woman with visible age on her face and body. She had hair that extended only barely past her face, and wore glasses.
Your 12 year old sister, Maddy, was a geeky girl who was obsessed with anime and nerdy stuff like Dungeons & Dragons. She had an unkempt mane of chestnut hair, a small, stocky build, and wore glasses. She was only 12, so her body was still developing.
Your 8 year old sister, Emma, was the definition of "girly". She was cute and hyper, always had a missing tooth or two, and was very thin. She had long brown hair and freckles.
Emma excitedly ran into the house before anybody else, and then shouted, "Mommy, what's this?" The rest of the family walked into the house to find out what she was talking about.
In the middle of the house, was a large machine with two pods. There was a note attached.
"Dear Gates family,
My name is Professor James Gardner, and I have spent years working on this invention of mine. You may find this hard to believe, but it is capable of swapping people's bodies. I have decided to leave it to you as I am old and have no use for it.
-Professor Gardner."
"Wow! Neato!" exclaimed your mom, "Hey, kids. Can I just say something crazy? I think that we should use this, and then destroy it! A new body to go along with our new house!"
"Yes yes yes!" exclaimed Emma, "I wanna be big!"
"That sounds interesting," said Maddy, "It reminds me of this manga I read..."
"Uh, no way! No offense, but I don't really want to be any of you guys." I said.
"Well, sorry, but we took a vote," mom said, and it's three to one. So, let's put our names in a cup and that's how we'll decide!"
I couldn't believe we were actually going through with this. But it was impossible to change my mom's mind. So soon enough, we were picking names.
"Jack, why don't you choose first?" suggested mom. Grimacing, I reached into the cup and pulled out a name. I looked at it to discover whose body I would live in for the rest of my life.
