Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura had just finished facing the Goddess of Chakra, Kayuya Otsutsuki. Both Naruto and Sasuke had used the powers of the Goddess' son and grandsons, and with the combined effort of both they had managed to seal away the Goddess once again and free the Tailed Beasts from the Demonic Statue.
With the parting words of the deceased, and the Sage of Six Paths returning to the afterlife after his son's reincarnation's had saved the world, things were looking pretty good for the future.
However, everything went to shit for Naruto. Sasuke, the one who he had thought had thrown away his evil ways had turned against him. Sasuke saw him as a threat and wanted to make sure he was not around to threaten his plan of complete annihilation of the ninja populace. Everything that had happened to him, from Itachi's killing of his family, to Konoha's betrayal of him, and of course the manipulations of everyone had made him resent the very idea of ninjas.
Sasuke knew the blonde haired container would not agree to his plans and decided to get rid of him. So with a last minute Susanoo, and a well-placed Kamui, the Uchiha had pushed the blonde through the portal. That was not the end however, the seal on Naruto's stomach, the one powered by the God of Death had failed at that very moment. It seemed the god's power did not transcend the gaps between different dimensions.
The purification of Yin-Kurama's chakra stopped and the cage that once held it flew open. Yin-Kurama had been pumping its chakra through Naruto's Chakra coils without any restraint due to their new partnership and the intense battle they had been through. And when the seal had broken without its knowledge, it had contnued to process its chakra through the boy. The red bubbling chakra burned through the shinobi's pathways causing the boy an intense amount of pain.
In addition to that, Yin-Kurama was expelled from the seal in a massive burst of chakra. The ripping of the Tailed Beast from his stomach and some of its chakra only added to the pain Naruto was going through. Through the haze of pain, Naruto had managed to catch the sight of Sasuke staring into the eyes of the confused and exhaused yin-nine tailed fox. He had tried to release a warning, a shout, a scream, absolutely anything to warn the fox. But it was too late.
Just as the inter-dimensional portal began to close, he could see the fox's orange pupils be replaced with Sasuke's signature sharingan, before the Uchiha turned to face the rest of them.
