Isaac stretched out lazily, somehow feeling like he could still afford another hour of sleep if he hadn't been so hungry. It was as if he was a faulty battery that would only reach fifty percent charge no matter how long it was plugged in. He rolled out of bed and pulled his boxers out from between his butt cheeks. These usually felt looser, but he was hardly in the mood to care about such trivial developments. He deftly kicked his jeans- which remained crumpled on the floor- across his room and into his hamper, then rifled through his options.
He pulled on another pair of jeans, hopping once, twice, three times to do so. Had these always been tight? He buttoned them shut and zipped them up. They fit, certainly, but they were pretty uncomfortable. He sighed, shook his head, and unbuttoned them. He tried another pair of jeans, then a pair of slacks, and then a pair of shorts. Each pair fit (after some negotiating) but they weren't the comfort he was seeking if he was going to go eat some fluffy, buttery...
God! He was hungrier than usual! He finally settled on a pair of black sweatpants which were truly comfortable. What was the deal with him? He looked at himself in the mirror in profile. Maybe all those squats he had been doing were starting to pay off?
Ten minutes later, he was in line at the campus buffet. The walk over had been more tiresome than he remembered, but he was spurred on by the promise of pancakes. He got some chocolate chip pancakes, two servings of bacon, and some eggs, and dropped his rear end into a seat not far from the pancake station. His hunger seemed bottomless today, and he had never known to do anything other than satisfy his hunger.
"Someone's hungry."
Isaac looked up from his plate for the first time to see a slim brunette standing expectantly with her own plate of food in her hand.
"Mmf- Lucy," he choked down his food, "sit down, will ya?"
Lucy sat infront of him, placing her own plate of pancakes opposite his. She lived next door to our protagonist, so the two had become friends over the course of the semester.
"Watch my stuff," Isaac said as he stood up to go for seconds, "The pancakes are great today."
"Sure," said Lucy, "But if I didn't know any better I'd say you were actively working on the freshman 15. You high or something? Got a case of the munchies?"
They both laughed as Isaac readjusted his pants and made a beeline toward the pancake line, unaware of the fate Lucy (whom Alina had been looking for the previous night) had avoided at Isaac's cost.
