"Hell yes there's a problem." Jessica exclaimed. "This crazy girl is kidnapping me."
"Girl, who is she to you?"
"Um, okay, this might sound weird, but she's Mrs. Bradley's new neighbour." Brittany said, talking fast. "Mrs. Bradley was watching her, but she had to go out to get something. My mom's in Mrs. Bradley's bridge circle and she's one of the ones that Jessica talked back to..."
"It's true."
Jessica swiveled her head to see the rest of the women from the bridge circle approaching them.
"This little miss has earned herself a good strapping and mouth washing." Mrs. Lakeside told the officer.
"Which one?"
Jessica's head swam at the officer's question. Did someone think that a teen Brittany's age was due a hard spanking? Then again, Mrs. Bradley had talked about spanking her grown daughters, so maybe they did things differently here.
"The younger one in the Muppet shorts." Mrs. Hascomb answered. "But since the older one is wasting your time here, then maybe Brittany needs seeing to too."
"I'd say she does, either from you or me."
"Then she'll get one too." Mrs. Waterfield stated. "Brittany will get the hairbrush while Jessica gets the razor strap, then when Jessica's getting her mouth washed out, Brittany can get that too."
"That seems a bit much. Just the hairbrush will do. Well girl, are you going to take your medicine or do I take you downtown?"
"I'll take it." Brittany answered quickly. "I really hate the brush, but I'll take."
"Fine, but I was really asking the younger girl. The one whose parents aren't here to decide if you're doing the right thing."
Jessica wanted to go with the cop, but the cop was crazy. Sentencing Brittany to a spanking just for wasting his time? Agreeing that the woman could maybe strap her and wash out her mouth? Maybe Brittany was right, maybe she shouldn't involve the cops.... but that would mean a strapping...
