Jess admitting she needed a new strategy sat quietly. Physically, she can't overpower them. Escaping failed and made her look more guilty.
Embarrassed by her behaviour, she knows she can impress them with her maturity. She'll behave like the mature adult she is. Once they're ready to listen to her, she'll have more credibility. They'll listen... They have to listen. A niggling voice at the back of her mind asks her 'why?'.
Sitting in the car, the journey is long with her being shushed into silenced any time she tries to explain.
Sure it'll make an amusing little piece to start her career, she has to admit she does look like one of their school girls. Besides, without her ID, it's a mistake anyone could make. Sitting quietly, she forces herself to be calm.
That calm takes a knock, as the car passes through a gate in a high wall. Given her height, even a normal sized wall is enough to hold her. This one looks to be over 10' tall, and made of brick. Once they're through the gates, Jessica sees the school must've been converted from a poor house. The building looks intimidating rising high, and looming over her.
Her stomach knotting, Jessica suddenly sees a very limited future if she can't convince them of the truth.
As the car approaches the front of the school, the gates are closed behind her. They boom and echo, made of thick oak beams, it just adds to the atmosphere of oppression. It's a prison for children, Jessica thinks.
She's marched inside, with a grip firmly held onto her shoulder. She tries not to object to the tightness of the grip.
