Bobby was at the front door, welcoming a new student to his school for gifted youngsters.
“Welcome Jareth” he said, “I am Bobby, a student of the school, we spoke on the phone” after the Professor died, some student had kept of the administration of the school, some of the older, as Bobby.
Jareth was tall, 6’9” easy, he was quite physically fit too, cut even. He had short black hair, a couple rogue lumped strands hanging down just a bit more than the rest. He had bright blue eyes and a five o’clock shadow. He wore a solid black tee and camo pants, with boots. He wasn’t your typical student; well over the average age, he was closer to the ages of most of the faculty in fact.
“Yes, we did. It’s nice to meet you” he stated, offering a hand to shake. Around his neck were some army tags; he’d been discharged after it was discovered he was a mutant; a secret he’d managed to hide somehow. While Jareth didn’t have the physical abnormalities of such mutants as Beast or Nightcrawler, his abilities made it quite difficult not to know he was a mutant when activated.
Bobby turned then and headed to the elevator, leading the way. “You have a most unusual ability Jareth, and that is not something easily said in a school filled with very unusual and unique students and faculty, but it remains true” Bobby said as they got on the elevator and headed upstairs.
“It’s a curse” he said flatly.
“Well, I do hope you’ll change your mind about that, our job here is to show that your mutant abilities are not curses, but blessings in disguise” Bobby said, the elevator opened and they headed down the halls, passing some more students as they did.
A rather gruff individual was heading their way with a beer bottle in his hand, “Hi Bob ” Logan sniffed the air then, and cocked an eyebrow, “Who’s the new guy, smells funny”
“Logan, this is Jareth, Jareth, this is Logan. It’s good you two are meeting now, as the two of you will be roommates” Bobby said.
They both responded, “Roommates?” neither sounding too happy about it.
“Yes. Jareth, Ororo said that you may never admit it, but until you know how to properly use your mutant abilities you will need protection from potential danger, and she think that Logan is the perfect roommate for you” Bobby said, heading away already. Jareth went after him.
“I just want privacy, I told you what happens when my powers activate” Jareth said sternly.
“Well, you must to be carefull if that happen, Logan it's not the most friendly guy... But he is a good person, both of you must to know each other” and with that Bobby pulled free and headed back downstairs.
Jareth turned to Logan again then.
“Come on bub, I ain’t too fond of the idea either, but we’d best get over it, Ororo ain’t easily swayed from a decision, even by these” he said, unsheathing his claws for a moment. They caught Jareth by surprise to where he paused, but then followed a moment later.
There was only one bed, Logan’s, there was clothing on the floor; all dirty, some shredded to pieces from apparent rages, there were claw marks on the dresser, the walls, the door, and even the bedposts. Other than a large Canadian flag, and a lot of empty beer bottles, the room was pretty bare bones.
“So, what brings you here bub? They don’t let just anyone in, what can you do?” Logan asked, taking another drink as he sat on his bed.
“I’d rather not talk about it” Jareth stated, sitting his luggage (an old duffle-bag) down and off to the side, he unzipped one side of it, but got nothing out.
“I’m going to find out sooner or later, there’s really nothing I haven’t heard or seen before” Logan stated, taking another drink.
“I secrete really powerful pheromones” Jareth stated with a pause.
“Ah, that’s what that smell is, I smelled it the moment you entered the mansion in fact. Super senses” he explained and then went on, “Ororo wouldn’t have put you in here with me though just because of that, what else do you do?”
There was a pause, “I shrink, to various sizes”
“Hmm, sounds like some friends of mine on the Avengers”
“I can’t control when it happens, for all I know it could happen in a few seconds, or it might never happen again – and that would be fine with me” Jareth stated.
“Well, that wouldn’t be fine with me” Logan said, which caused Jareth to look at him quizzically. “There’s only one bed, an action figure doesn’t take up much room” Logan said.
“Can’t we just get another bed in here?” Jareth asked.
“No, there aren’t any more” Logan answered.
“Fine, I’ll sleep on the floor then”
“Suit yourself”
Since it was pretty late, and since he was in a terrible mood, he moved as many beer bottles and strong-scented musky clothes out of the way as he could and prepared to lie down, “Take the bed,” Logan stated, “I’m heading out for more beer” he didn’t say another word, just left. Jareth figured he might as well and kicked off his shoes and lay in the bed. There was an overwhelming scent of Logan; musk, meat, and beer. It took him a while, but he eventually fell asleep.
Then...
