Amanda smiled and nodded. "Yep. Came out earlier this week. I saw it in the store, and remembered you saying you missed it in theater's, so..." Amanda trailed off as Sally bounced over and grabbed the box from her hand.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Tanya also smiled, as Jen held up another plastic bag. Sally could see cans of soda and bags of chips through the transparent material. "We stopped for snacks on the way over," she explained, "they were cleaned out on candy though..."
"Not a problem!" Sally said, taking the bowl of candy in her other hand. It was meant to go to any trick-or-treaters that showed up before she left, but the deluge outside had made that point useless. No, as the four costumed girls filed into Sally's living room, their host popping the disc into the player as Jen walked into the kitchen with a bowl of popcorn, they all decided that they were going to indulge themselves.

"Well," John Marshall said, pulling his car into the driveway of his girlfriend's house, "I'm sure glad we lost that creepy hitchhiker who was following us."
"You're telling me," Jane Watson said, arms folded over her chest, "I'm shivering just thinking about him!"
John grinned at her as they left the car and walked to her front door. "Would it made you feel better if I stayed the night?"
His girlfriend huffed, and exasperated smile creeping onto her face. "Nice try, pal. I'll see you tomorrow."
Amanda, lying across the seat of an armchair, feigned gagging. Sally giggled as she lied on the floor in front of the couch., but shushed her as the boyfriend's car pulled away from the house. The camera cut to a shadowy silhouette walking down the road, and Tanya whined. Jen, sitting next to her on the couch, put a hand on her shoulder, which seemed to calm her down some. The camera cut to the bathroom, showing Jane from the knee down climbing into the shower, her clothes crumpled on the tile floor.
Jane let the hot water rush over her, steam rising as the dirt was scoured from every pore on her body. She was humming; softly, but the acoustics of the bathroom made it seem louder to her. Loud enough that she couldn't hear the lock on her door being forced, anyway.
"Oh no..." Tanya whispered, and Sally shushed her this time, getting a glare from Jen.
Softly, the door to her bathroom opened. Jane felt a cold breeze, but just turned the water up hotter in response. The hitchhiker could see her silhouetted through the shower curtain. Slowly, he raised an arm- a shiv held tight in his gloved fist! Slowly, he reached for the curtain. Jane frowned: was that... breathing she heard? Suddenly, the shower curtain swung open! Jane turned, covering herself up, and screamed. The hitchhiker shouted, a instinctual, guttural roar, the shiv trembling as he held it high in the air!
A flash of light came in through the window. Sally had just enough time to register that fact, when a second later, a loud clap of thunder crashed down, shaking the whole house. All the girls had been focused intently on the movie in front of them; when the lightning struck, all four of them jumped in their seats, as... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
