Sandra's Revelation

"Wait, I have a cellphone!" she says. "I can call 911!"

"Are you insane?" you ask her. "What do you think you're gonna say to them? 'Oh, hi, me and this guy got shrunk and now we're stranded in the middle of a road, could you come pick us up'?"

You see realization creep into her face, and she slowly nods. A tear drops from her eye. You move in closer, trying desperately to comfort her.

"Get away from me!" she yells and punches you in the face.

"Ow!" you yell, and fall to the ground in pain, holding your bleeding nose. "What wath that for?" you say through your blood.

"What do you think?!" she yells. "This is all your fault!" She suddenly kicks you in the ribs, and you curl up in even more pain. Despite all your efforts of saying "Ow" repeatedly, it does nothing to help the situation. You intake sharp and quick amounts of air when the woman suddenly speaks up.

"Oh! Of course! That's who can pick us up!"

"Who?" you wheeze.

"My sister!" she says. "I can call her, and she can help us!"

"...oh." You continue your wheezing as the call commences.

Several minutes later, you and the woman are resting against a curb on the side of the road, away from the dangers of oncoming traffic. You nurse your bleeding nose and bruised jaw as the two of you wait for her sister.

"I'm Sandra." the woman suddenly says.

"Pardon?"

"Sandra. My name."

"Oh... Scott." You extend your free hand, which the two of you shake.

"Sorry 'bout the, uh..." she points at your nose. "I guess I overreacted."

You feel like jumping up and shouting at her, but that kick really hurt, and you would hate it if it happened to be aimed a bit better, perhaps at a certain point between your legs.

Yes. Not pleasant at all. Instead, you decide to go with a simple, "No problem," and be done with it. Which you do.

"So... tell me about this thing." she says, holding up the scrap metal that was once the matter transposer.

"Ah... that wath a devyth made by a profethor at the Univerthity."

"A device made by a professor? Come on, you have to be a bit more specific."

You are reluctant to share more information with Sandra, as it's impossible to tell what might happen if you reveal it was stolen. Finally, Sandra shrugs.

"Whatever." Sandra seems eager for company, though, and begins talking once more. "You know, my sister's a professor at the University."

"Ish she?" you ask.

"Yeah... science. Don't know how anyone can tolerate it."

Science? You feel your face begin to heat up... you slowly ask Sandra a question, desperate that the answer isn't what you think it is.

"Um... what's her name?" you ask, removing the tissue from your nose.

"Oh. Rebekah. Rebekah Montana."

Crap.

You barely even hear her as she starts making threats to you if you make fun of her for her first and last name rhyming. All you can think of is what'll happen when Professor Montana finds you... the matter transposer was a top secret device.

'She's gonna kill me...' you think. Without you intending it, that thought lingers in your mind, and you realize that she might actually do it... it'd be so easy, and there'd be no evidence... just one, quick step...

It does nothing for your fears when you hear the sound of an engine arrive and slow.

"Here she is!" Sandra says, and she runs from the curb as Montana's car comes to a stop. The door opens, and a booted leg suddenly steps out, followed by the rest of her.

"Sandra?" she calls.

"I can't be here for this..." you whisper to yourself...

You realize that you have to run... you might not make it... but it's the only way. Rebekah Montana's wrath might be lethal.

But you never know. You only know her from a student-teacher relationship... she might be lenient, and she's the only person who could really help you out of this little predicament.
