They continue examining it

Rob and Jackson continued to examine it. “Maybe it slipped in by accident?” suggested Jackson.

“Maybe,” said Rob, “but I didn’t see anything in her hands…”

“She say anything unusual?”

“You know my grandma. She’s always prattling about conspiracies. How the Mayans predicted Pearl Harbor. Silly stuff.”

Rob trailed off. “Although…”

“What is it?” Jackson leaned in.

“Nothing!” Rob laughed. “Just something about a season of change. Obviously. Fall, last year of school. She didn’t say anything meaningful.”

He twirled the tiara around his fingers. By now, the buses had started to pull away from the curb, and the sidewalks were nearly empty. Jackson wondered what the hell they were spending so much time fixating on a stupid crown-tiara for.
