Nick came home after being gone on a 4 day trip. His wife Emily ran a home business. She was a seamstress and had quite a reputation for her altering ability. The secret however, was the shapeshifting medallion. Whereas most suit tailoring and dress altering took multiple appointments for normal people, Emily always got it done perfect the first time. Sometimes, Katlyn shapeshifted into her customer’s bodies. Other times, she enlisted the help of Nick or one of her two children, Katlyn and Derrick to use the shapeshifting medallion.
When Nick walked in the door, he saw Emily kneeling down in front of a 45 year old woman wearing a fancy dress. Emily was making measurements and adjustments. The 45 year old woman looked up and smiled, “Dad! Your home!” Emily also greeted him, “Welcome home! How was your trip?”
Nick answered, “It was ok. Mostly boring work stuff…” Nick then asked, “How’s business been going?”
Emily pointed to the 45 year old woman and said, “I received an order for an entire wedding party. We’ve been busy around here making the alterations.”
Nick looked at the 45 year old woman who was modeling the dress. Nick grinned, “…Mother of the bride I’m assuming?” The woman nodded back. Nick then told the 45 year old woman, “So Katlyn…We still need to talk about what happened while I was gone. Your mother told me all about sneaking out past curfew...”
The 45 year old woman cracked a grin, “Whoa whoa whoa Dad.. I’m not Katyln! She is over there!”
Nick cracked a grin, “Oops. Sorry Derrick. My mistake. I just assumed you were her.”
Emily jumped in, “Katlyn is still grounded from her little incident last weekend! She still had time left on the shapeshifting medallion after she helped me do some fittings. She turned into a bird to fly over to her boyfriend’s house. After I caught her sneaking back home, we got into an argument. I think her punishment was creative. She will think twice about shapeshifting into a bird again and sneaking out!”
Dad looked over to the corner to see a bird cage. The bird inside waved it’s wing. Dad waved back surprised that his daughter Katlyn was stuck as a bird in a cage. Dad asked Emily, “How much longer is she grounded for?”
Emily answered, ‘One more day. That should be enough to learn her lesson.”
Dad turned to Katlyn and said, “We can hold off on our talk until your human again!” Katlyn let out two tweets in agreement.
Dad looked at Derrick and said, “The game starts in 2 hours son. My boss gave me 2 courtside tickets!”
It was strange seeing a 45 year old woman get so excited over a basketball game. Derrick was happy, “Thanks Dad!” Derrick then looked down at Mom who was still making measurements to the dress he was modeling, “Are we almost done Mom?”
Emily nodded, “Not quite. You still have about 45 minutes left of shapeshifting power. It’s enough time to get started on the next dress.”
Derrick groaned. He spent the past 4 hours posing as different people so Mom could make her measurements. He started by shapeshifting into all the men in the wedding party to fit their tux’s. Mom went pretty fast with the tux’s. Derrick was avoiding standing in high heels for hours upon hours while Mom made measurements. He chose to shapeshift into the bridesmaids next because they all were wearing low heels. The only 2 left were the bride and flower girl. He knew the bride’s dress would take forever. He knew that tomorrow, it was Katlyn’s job to help Mom. That’s why he chose to pose as the mother-of-the bride now. He was hoping his shapeshifting power would run out before he had to model any more dresses.
As he went back to the dressing room, he chose to shapeshift into………
