With that said, she picked up a phone and called mom. You got a sinking feeling as Samantha talked to her then turned pale as she then turned back to you before placing the book back into the cloth bag you were holding. "Your mother will meet you at the food court." Firmly but kindly, she said. "I strongly advise you talk to no one and not wander off until she gets there."
"I'm going to be grounded..." Sighing, you said.
"Believe me when I say it could have gone much worse for you." Softly, Samantha said. "Off with you now, I want nothing to do with this."
Confused and unnerved, you walked out of Samantha's antique shop and walked to the food court. You still had no clue what the book was or why only a select few could hold or view it. "I don't understand." Hurt, you thought. "It's just a book... isn't it?"
Upon reaching the food court, you sat down at one of the tables to wait for mom. You were frightened and confused. Worse, you had no idea what Samantha had said to mom over the phone as she spoke so softly, it seemed. You did not have to wait long before...
