This choice: Apollo is only about half a foot tall. • Go Back... Apollo coughed, trying to force away the remnants of the powder Trucy had thrown. He felt strange. A few more coughs, and he opened his eyes again.
"Whoa-!!"
Immediately Apollo jumped in place, fumbling back on the soft ground. The faces of both Athena and Trucy were hovering before him as expected. The shocking bit was that they each looked to be about as large as a small toolshed.
Apollo's breath hitched as he looked frantically around. The smooth red fabric of the chair cushion beneath him spread out like a small field.
Trucy began to speak, and her words rang as loud as they might have through a set of large speakers.
"Polly...? Are you... OK...?"
Taking in the sight and sound, Apollo couldn't speak.
"Madre de Dios..." Athena whispered in disbelief, though her whisper sounded closer to an ordinary speaking tone.
A few minutes later, the group felt no less shocked.
Apollo was pacing the wide space of the cushion. He'd shrunk. How the hell that was even possible was a mystery, but it appeared that Trucy's trick had somehow caused it.
Going by Athena's quick measurement, he was around five to six inches tall in total now. That was quite the adjustment to make so suddenly. He'd started by edging his way into a nervous breakdown, and only recovered in the minutes since thanks to Athena and Trucy offering their immediate soothing emotional support. They were clearly shocked and scared, too, but they hadn't let it stop them.
Of course, now that he'd calmed down, the pair was right into their usual M.O. of teasing him, instead.
"So, it might be hard for you to be a lawyer on your own like this," Athena said with a tiny smile, "But you could definitely still be my sidekick if you think you're up to it."
Trucy chimed in before Apollo could respond. "That's a good idea, Athena." she said. "Maybe this could be a great thing for him, actually. We've still got two normal-size lawyers left, and Polly can be the new office sidekick. Think about it -- he could be even better as an assistant for my shows now, and with him on your side in court, you'd be the cutest defence in the country!"
"Not helping, Trucy." Apollo replied in a groaning deadpan.
Trucy shrugged. "I'm just trying to be positive, Apollo. I don't know if I can reverse this just yet. Maybe not ever."
"You'd better figure something out," Apollo said pointedly to her, "Or I don't think I'm likely to live long enough to do any of the things you two are talking about."
"Oh, please, Apollo." Athena said, grinning now. "We'll take great care of you! Everything's gonna be fine, right, Trucy?"
Trucy gave her best stage smile, which even now, Apollo couldn't help but feel reassured by. "That's a promise, Polly!"   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
